What a Fool Believes

Is it time to start being silly again?

FLOWER REMEDIES

It’s that time of year again!

Across the world, people are planning pranks and jokes on the nearest and dearest in the hope of being able to say, “April Fools!” if they fall for them.

Some of us love April Fool’s Day, some of us are uninterested in it and others positively loathe it. Whatever you feel about the 1st of April, do you think humanity needs more fun in its life?

I sometimes wonder if we’ve lost sight of ‘silliness’ in its purest form. The kind of ‘silly’ that makes us forget we’re supposed to be fully-grown adults with enormous overdrafts. That stuff that makes us snort when we laugh, feel child-like for a few minutes.

What makes you want to throw caution to the wind and be daft? When’s the last time you did anything like that?

If you have a healthy balance of silliness and seriousness going on in your life, I applaud you! It’s not easy to keep that going.

If you’re struggling to remember the last time you did something silly just for the hell of it, you’re not alone. Many of us find life difficult from time to time. For others, it can feel like a daily battle with the sheer weight of responsibilities they carry.

Sometimes, there’s nothing ‘wrong’, but you just feel ‘blehhh’.

If so, fear not, brave Jester-in-Waiting…

Bach flower remedies are here to save the day! If you’re not familiar with the Bach Flower System, you can read about it here (what they are, how they work and how to take them)

For this week of April Foolishness, here are some suggested remedies to help you feel lighter with a bit of sunshine in your soul. These are just a starting point to give you an idea of what the remedies can help with.

If you want to check out the rest, feel free to have a look at the descriptions.

Elm – for when you feel overwhelmed (OverwhELMed!) by responsibility – especially if you’re usually ‘The Capable One’ but suddenly feel you can’t manage. Elm will help you feel back in control and back in the saddle.

Mustard – for when you feel a sense of depression or low mood descend like a cloud, then lift away again just as randomly as it appeared. Mustard can help stabilise your inner peace and strengthen your joy.

Gentian – for when you feel despondent from a setback or disappointment. If you accuse yourself of ‘failing’, even when you’re making progress, Gentian will help you rest this mindset to one that supports you, no matter what the outcome. Any feelings of discouragement will become feelings of determination.

Gorse – for when you feel like there’s no point in making the effort. If you’ve lost faith that anything will work and are just going through the motions, Gorse will restore your hope and optimism.

Wild Rose – for when everything feels beige and bland in life. It’s a remedy for when you feel resigned to your fate and can’t raise the energy or motivation to do anything about it. All ambition has gone. Wild Rose will reignite your zest for life and sense of purpose. This remedy helps us feel empowered to take responsibility for our lives and fires us our ambition to live our best life.

I hope that life affords you a moment of silliness this week and I hope you have the best week that you can.

May your magic go with you…
