If you follow astrology at all, you may have noticed the interesting (!) energies that are heading our way

I’ve been reading my usual astro app (Chani) and it looks like it’s going to be a potentially challenging week (and the rest) for us all! So much so, that I’m sharing what I’ve read in case it’s helpful. It’s worth checking Chani’s astrology app out if you haven’t already – I like that she tells it as it is. (I’m not an affiliate; I just like her work).

This is what I’ve gathered so far -

Everything seems Aries themed this week. Like living in a giant, full-volume, dance anthems club with neon ram’s heads emblazoned on everything and Red Bull espressos on tap.

On Wednesday the 15th of April, we will have seven planets in Aries, including Chiron (the astrological body that represents our deepest wounds). According to astrologers, this is an exceptionally rare situation. This presents us with provocation, agitation and communication challenges, particularly around our deepest emotional wounds.

However – according to experts, it also gives us the opportunity to make extremely significant changes, especially around our identity. Chiron represents our deepest wounds but also offers the path that leads us to healing those wounds.

Hmmm…that’s quite a lot for one week, wouldn’t you say?

The received wisdom about this is to Pick Your Battles Wisely. In fact, pick your battles Even More Wisely Than That. Only take on stuff that really, really matters for the next couple of weeks.

On Thursday the 16th of April we have Chiron cazimi (where the sun and Chiron come together). Definitely time for reflecting on your deepest emotional wounds and getting to the root of the issue.

Then the very next day, the dark moon is also in Aries.

Altogether now - gaaaaahh!!!!

All of these placements, moon phases and alignments are saying ‘start from where you are, with what you’ve got’. Ultimately, the astrologers are telling us that we can make some hugely important changes around our identity and healing some fundamental pain that we’ve been carrying. They call for courage in decision-making and faith in the eventual outcome, even if the road is rocky.

Wowsers. That’s a whole lot of energy coming our way this week. I’ve been working out a few things that can help support us this week .

Maybe you just want to stagger through the energies of this week, ‘go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over’.

Or maybe you’re thinking of taking the astrological bit between your teeth and taking a deep dive into the root of your biggest emotional pain. Do you feel it’s time to make those fundamental changes in your life?

Whichever path you choose, I’ve put together a tarot spread and some suggested herbs in magical and/or essence form as your companions for this intense week.

As if often the way with these things, if you choose to try them, you can do them all together or separately - whichever feels right for you.

The Chiron Effect Card Reading Spread is free to download here

Helpful herbs for this week*:

Agrimony (flower, leaf)

  • As a magical ingredient - it supports the act of truth-seeking, breaks hexes and protects from unwanted energies.

  • As a plant essence - it connects you to your inner truth and allows you to investigate your innermost feelings. It also gives you courage to speak these truths - (you have been warned!).

Borage (flower)

  • As a magical ingredient - it supports courage and restores the spirit.

  • As a flower essence - it’s supportive, brings confidence and the knowledge you can cope with whatever is happening. It’s very protective of highly sensitive people.

Walnut (Leaf, nut, nutshell, bark)

  • As a magical ingredient - the nut shells and bark are used as a protective ingredient, great for invoking positivity when travelling. The leaves are also connected to dream work.

  • As a flower/plant essence - it’s a very protective essence, also a great link breaker or spell breaker. It protects you from unwanted outside influences and allows you to forge your own path without being derailed by others.

Using The Herbs

The simplest way to use the herbs is in a pouch that you keep with you as you go about daily life. Just add a couple of teaspoons of any (or all) of the herb/s into a little fabric bag that you can draw closed to keep the herbs from spilling out.

You can hold the pouch and ask the herbs to help you as you go through the week. You could also put the push under your pillow before you go to sleep at night. Both agrimony and walnut leaf are excellent for sleep and dreaming!

You can try any of the flower essences as mood remedies or as a longer term remedy if you feel the need for deeper support. You can add the flower essences to the pouch too if you like.

When you feel the remedies and/or the pouch has done its work with you, simply thank the plants for their help and dispose of them however you feel is appropriate. (Some people add them to the compost, some people put them in the bin, some people cast them into the sea - it’s entirely your choice but make sure you don't ditch the pouch into the sea!)

Another way to use the herbs is to use them as a loose incense. You could burn them as you try out the card reading spread, to enhance your sensitivity and divination skills.

Whatever you choose to do this week, I wish you the best week you can have!

May your magic go with you.

*An Important Note: I am not a medical herbalist. I am simply a magical practitioner who uses herbs. If you’re using any herbs internally or on the skin, please be aware that herbs can interact with any medications or treatments you may be having. Flower remedies are safe to take alongside medication and treatment as they do not contain plant matter, only the energetic imprint of the plant. If you avoid alcohol as part of your religion, it’s important to note that most flower remedy bottles usually have a small amount of alcohol in them. You buy remedies that are preserved with glycerin if you prefer.
